See The Northern Lights

You probably learned about the Aurora Borealis in your Science class but did not pay much attention it. Now that you are older and more adventurous, you probably want to see the Aurora Borealis up close. Well, this is a decision that you will not regret. The Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, are amazing displays of light and you need to see them at least once in your lifetime. Photos will not suffice and it is a completely different experience when you see them personally.

If you want to visit the North and view the Northern Lights, there are several countries you can go to. The visibility and brightness of the lights will depend on the season, location, weather and other environmental factors so you must think about this before choosing your holiday destination. But to help you with making a decision, here are the best countries you can visit to see the Northern Lights.

#1 Tromso, Norway

On top of the list is Tromso, Norway. Trosmo is a town in the Northern part of Norway and it is one of the best places to view the Northern Lights.  It is located 300 kilometers inside the Arctic Circle, which makes it a good place for seeing the Aurora Borealis.  The Lights are very visible between 6PM to 1AM, all year round.

A fact that you need to know about this town is that the sun never rises here. It is a completely dark place, which makes the Northern Lights more visible.  Aside from this, when you go to Trosmo, Norway in January, you will enjoy the Northern Lights festival. You can party with the locals while seeing a spectacular view in the sky.

#2 Ontario, Canada

Canada is the second best place to see the Northern Lights. In the Northern part of Lake Superior, Ontario, you can take a 1-hour snowmobile ride and see the display of the Northern Lights in the sky. This area is freezing cold and you should make sure that you are wearing the thickest clothes. This part of the world is not completely dark compared to Tromso, Norway but you can still see the lights clearly.

#3 Reykjavik, Iceland

In the city of Reykjavik, you can also see the Northern Lights but of course, you want to get closer and see it more vividly. Just outside the city, away from the well-lit streets and buildings, you can view the Northern Lights perfectly. There are many tour operators that will offer you great deals to see the Northern Lights. Take them up on their offer because they know where to get the best views.

Other places that you might want to visit in order to see the Northern Lights include Alaska, Sweden and Finland. Remember that the place you choose to go to would depend largely on several factors including your preferences and your budget. If you are tight on the budget, you can always go to Ontario or Alaska.
